Call Us Wrong-Way Driver Causes Three Crashes on Interstate 35W

Just before midnight last night, a wrong-way driver caused three separate crashes on Interstate 35W near the exit for the airport.
Around 11:45 p.m., a Fort Worth Police Officer was heading north on I-35W when he swerved into another lane to avoid a head-on collision with a vehicle that was going the wrong way. The officer’s car was rear-ended by an SUV after he entered the other lane.
The officer was treated for minor injuries at the hospital and is expected to be OK, according to police.
Unfortunately, the wrong-way driver hit two cars after narrowly avoiding a collision with the police officer’s vehicle. The two crashes occurred between Felix Street and Seminary Drive.
The wrong-way driver hit the side of one of the cars, which was traveling at 60 mph. The driver was thrown from the vehicle, but he was OK.
The wrong-way driver had to be extricated from her vehicle by Forth Worth firefighters. Fortunately, she sustained only minor injuries from the crashes and was taken to John Peter Smith Hospital for treatment.
The interstate was closed at Seminary Drive during the police investigation of the crashes.
It is not known if police will file charges against the wrong-way driver.
