motorcycle crashed and on its side

According to Dallas police, Interstate 30 was shut down early Tuesday morning for several hours after a fatal collision involving two big rigs and a motorcycle.

The Dallas County Sheriffs Office stated that one of the 18-wheelers involved ran over the motorcycle driver after the driver lost control of the motorcycle and crashed. Authorities closed eastbound I-30 before Lamar Street shortly before 4 a.m. and reopened that section of the interstate around 8 a.m.

This tragic accident reminds us of the dangers of both riding a motorcycle and traveling with semi-trucks. If you or someone you love is injured in an accident, our experienced team can help you get the justice you deserve.

For motorcycle riders it is important to remember a few key safety tips when riding:

  • Always wear a Department of Transportation approved helmet that fits snugly to your head, protects your face, and has adequate ventilation.
  • Try to avoid driving in inclement weather conditions when it is more difficult to control your bike.
  • Wear protective gear that makes you visible to other drivers.
  • Always follow all safety laws and speed limits.
  • Never ride if you have been drinking.

Motorcycle riding can be an enjoyable experience filled with both thrilling and relaxing moments on the open road, but it is important to always practice safe and defensive driving, especially when riding near large trucks.

Semi-trucks are big, cumbersome vehicles with large blind spots and a slower reaction time to incidents that may happen on the road ahead. When traveling with these vehicles, always remain attentive, be aware of their blind spots and do not cut them off in aggressive driving moves.

When faced against a large truck, the odds are against motorcyclists who have almost no protection from their very small vehicle. We have seen first-hand the tragedy that these accidents can bring.

If you or someone you love has been involved in this type of accident, you need a motorcycle accident lawyer on your side who you can trust to investigate your claim and build a strong case in your defense.

The Fort Worth personal injury attorneys at Anderson, Cummings & Drawhorn, LLP can do just that and will help you get the justice you deserve.
