Affected models

Since the now infamous ignition switch recall was announced in February, GM has issued nearly 60 recalls on malfunctions affecting everything from faulty airbags to power steering. The latest recall affects the following makes and models for a variety of reasons:

2014 Chevrolet Spark

Potential steering loss is the concern in 1,919 Sparks. Drivers are being warned to immediately stop driving their vehicles until an inspection has occurred. Potentially loosened control arm bolts may cause steering loss, and drivers should contact a dealer to arrange for pickup of their vehicle to be delivered to the dealership, where technicians will check to see if this defect is present.

2002-04 Saturn Vue

GM is recalling 202,115 Saturn Vue crossover vehicles after having been notified of two crashes and one injury associated with them. The problem is that the key may be removed from the Vue’s ignition while it is still in the “on” position, leaving the potential for a roll away. Dealers have been instructed to check the vehicle for this issue and replace the ignition cylinder and keys at no cost to the owner.

2013 Cadillac ATS and 2013 Buick Encore

These ATS and Encore models are experiencing problems with their seat belt pre-tensioners. Rather than locking into place, the lap belt may extend to its original length and fail to keep the passenger safe in the event of a crash. GM is recalling 48,059 vehicles for this issue.

2014-15 Chevrolet Impala

The Impala is being recalled for a relatively minor glitch with its front console compartment latch, which can fly open if the car is hit in the rear or experiences another sudden stopping event. According to the federal safety regulations, these and all latches must remain closed. A stop sale is in effect until the repairs on this issue are complete, and GM has recalled 14,940 vehicles affected by the problem.

2009-10 Chevrolet Aveo and 2009 Pontiac G3

The Aveo and G3 are being recalled for potentially reduced braking performance and longer pedal traveling time, which was originally classified as a Customer Satisfaction Program matter. 1,968 Aveo and G3 vehicles will be repaired for the problem. Dealers have been instructed to inspect and replace the ABS system module and change the brake fluid, if necessary.
